Wedding gown sale (and donations): Brides Against Breast Cancer
I just learned about a wedding gown sale that also supports a good cause: Brides Against Breast Cancer – part of Making Memories. If anyone has heard about this before, let us know about your experience!
This organization conducts a nation-wide tour where they sell donated gowns to raise money for their cause. Gowns are priced from $99 to $799 (except couture gowns could be higher). Half the gowns are new gowns donated by designers and the other half are donated by former brides.
This sale will take place on 15-17 April 2011 in Chicago. On 15 April, from 6-10pm, tickets must be reserved for $25. On 16-17, admission nis free. It will be held at the Wyndham Chicago, 633 N St. Clair St., Chicago, IL, 60611.
If you can’t make that event, it will occur in Milwaukee on 21-23 April and other locations throughout the country. Check their calendar for the list of dates.
Now, if the wedding is over and you just don’t know what to do with your gown, you can get a tax deduction if you donate it to this cause. In particular, they are looking for gowns created since 2005 (if you have older gowns, they may accept them at a later date). You mail your gown along with a form to the organization. It seems pretty simple.
