Too Good To Go app: Save money & fight food waste

Every day, tons of perfectly edible food ends up in the trash. Not because it’s spoiled, but because it’s unsold. That’s where Too Good To Go comes in: a brilliant app that helps you rescue food and save money too.

If you’ve never heard of it, or you downloaded it and forgot about it, this post is for you.

What is Too Good To Go?

Too Good To Go is a free app that lets you buy “surprise bags” of leftover food from local businesses at a big discount. Think pastries, sushi, groceries, cafe treats, even restaurant meals. It’s food that would otherwise be thrown out at the end of the day, but still perfectly good.

You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and bags are usually $3-10 each. You can only pick up at the times designated. That’s it!

Pro tips to get the best out of Too Good To Go

1. Set notifications for your favorites
Good spots sell out fast. Tap the heart icon on places you like so you’ll get alerts.

2. Check in the late evening or early morning
Most listings are updated for the next day in the evening — between 8-10 PM — and sell out quickly. Morning bakery bags? Look around 7 AM. I’ve heard that for Whole Foods, right after midnight is best.

3. Know the pickup window
Pickup times are not flexible. If a pickup is between 9:30–10:00 PM, show up on time or risk forfeiting your bag (no refunds).

4. Rate and review your orders
This helps improve the platform and gives you insight into consistent, generous providers.

5. Keep reusable bags handy
Some places may give you multiple small containers or bakery items, so you should always bring your own bag.

6. Follow local Facebook groups
Users often post tips, reviews, and best finds from different businesses.

If you’re flexible, love trying new food, and hate waste — this app is a must. Just remember: it’s a surprise bag. Some days you score huge, other days it’s just decent. Either way, you’re helping the planet and saving a buck.
