Repelling spooky spiders
So a few years ago, I walked into my apartment, looked into the kitchen and saw a huge spider in the window. Since it was October, my first thought was, why did my roommate add THAT Halloween decoration? We both dislike spiders. As I approached the window, I realized that it wasn’t a plastic spider‚ it was a real live big black spider that was larger than a quarter! It had spun a classic spider web in the window.
I closed the window, put a posty on the lock telling my roommate NOT to open it, and hit the Internet. It turns out that lavender oil is a great spider repellent. I shook a few drops into the window and the spider left on its own.I’ve even used lavender oil to repel ants and other insects from the house.
A small bottle can be purchased at most places that sell herbs and supplements‚ and Amazon, too, if you can’t find it anywhere else. A bottle can be stored for a long time and it isn’t too expensive. Also, as the scent fades, it is a nice room deodorizer.
I haven’t tried this yet, but shaking a few drops onto a napkin when on a picnic may also repel any pesky bugs that are attracted to your food.
